A Career Rooted in Bankruptcy Law

Jody Bledsoe began his legal career in 1993 as an attorney and advocate for consumer debtors. He served as the staff attorney for Carol A. Morrison, a former Chapter 7 trustee in the Eastern District of North Carolina. Over the next two decades, Jody dedicated himself to representing consumer debtors, building a reputation for knowledgeable and compassionate advocacy. 

In 2014, Jody was appointed as a Chapter 13 trustee for the Eastern District of North Carolina (EDNC), where he oversaw cases in the New Bern, Greenville, Fayetteville, and Wilmington Divisions. This role deepened his understanding of the complexities of Chapter 13 bankruptcy and allowed him to assist countless individuals and families in navigating the bankruptcy process. As trustee, he also appeared before the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals. 

In January 2025, Jody joined Biggs Law Firm, returning to his roots in private practice and bringing his extensive experience, commitment to client service, and knowledge of consumer protection to the firm.

Jody is a member of the National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys (NACBA) and the National Association of Chapter 13 Trustees (NACTT). He also serves on the Board of the NACTT Academy, a nonprofit organization that publishes educational materials related to Chapter 13 bankruptcy proceedings. In addition, Jody is a Board Member of the Eastern Bankruptcy Institute (EBI), an organization founded in 1973 to provide continuing legal education on bankruptcy matters in North Carolina. .

Jody’s expertise and dedication have made him a sought-after speaker at national and local events hosted by NACBA, NACTT, and EBI. He is also a regular contributing author to the NACTT Academy’s weekly newsletter and the host of its emerging podcast series, “Consumer Bankruptcy Diary.”

Jody represents clients primarily in federal and state court throughout North Carolina, focusing on business and consumer bankruptcy cases, bankruptcy litigation, consumer protection litigation, business law, and tax issues.
